  • Overview

    TMAC Resources is looking to hire a Welder whose responsibilities will include design, fabricate, install, maintain and repair all stationary, mobile, mechanical and auxiliary equipment in a safe, functional, reliable condition and provide quality services within the maintenance department.

     

    This role will report to the Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor. The position is located at the Hope Bay Project site in Nunavut, Canada and will require regular rotational travel to and from the site (3 weeks in / 3 weeks out).

    Responsibilities

    • Fabricate, repair, and recondition mobile and stationary equipment per trade code and industry design specifications and requirements.
    • Safe and efficient fabrication of components and routine welding repair of heavy equipment used in underground and Surface mining.
    • Fabrication and repair of stationary machinery, mobile and structural framework, booms, buckets, structural platforms, walkways, beams etc.
    • Contribute and participate in daily safety audits and regular meetings.
    • Provide timely response to critical equipment breakdown priorities.
    • Have the ability to solve and correct recurring structural failures and wear related problems.
    • Assist supervisors in ordering materials, giving accurate time frames for repair, and planning welding maintenance and overhauls
    • Ability to communicate well to supervisors and other technicians to ensure accurate information is passed on.
    • Other duties may be assigned.

    Qualifications

    • The position is located at the Hope Bay Project site in Nunavut, Canada and will require regular rotational travel to and from the site.
    • A Minimum of 5 years of on-the-job mechanical/welding experience in mining or a related industry.
    • Red Seal Journeyperson
    • CWB Certification Level A or equivalent
    • CSA Standard W47.1
    • CSA Standard W59
    • GTAW,SMAW,GMAW,FCAW Qualifications
    • Boiler and Pressure Vessel Certifications an asset
    • Mechanical and / or Millwright experience would be considered an asset.
    • Arctic experience, and the proven ability to work outdoors in all types of inclement conditions an asset
    • Basic computer skills
