  • Overview

    TMAC Resources is looking to hire Manager of Performance Excellence to be responsible for establishing and managing an effective continuous improvement program at Hope Bay. The Manager will work collaboratively with a peer group of department managers to instil a culture of performance excellence and lead and support change management initiatives. The position will lead site senior management to monitor and ensure optimal performance against objectives and initiatives.

     

    This role will report to the General Manager. The position is located at the Hope Bay Project site in Nunavut, Canada and will require regular rotational travel to and from the site (2 weeks in / 2 weeks out). Quarterly visits to the Toronto office will be required. 

    Responsibilities

    • Analyze existing business processes and systems, identify performance improvement opportunities and drive continuous improvement efforts throughout all operations departments including contractors as required.
    • Review, recommend and lead improvement in existing processes and systems as needed. Ensure that efficient and established processes and systems are maintained.
    • Implement effective measurement tools and standards associated with continuous improvement tracking.
    • Analyze performance data of historic and current business, operations, and projects.
    • Work closely with and support the teams of the operations departments with their improvement activities.
    • Assist with the establishment of the management operating systems (MOS).
    • Ensure that improvements are measurable and can be tracked by the MOS presently being developed and installed to assist in sustainability after the present improvement activity has been completed.
    • Develop and deliver appropriate training to support initiatives. Monitor effectiveness update as needed and deliver. Work closely with and support the teams of the operations departments.
    • Communicate and follow-up with initiative owners, challenge schedules, progress and implementation of initiatives according to schedule and budget.
    • Coordinate and monitor the tracking of the impact against estimates
    • Coordinate and lead monthly meetings and initiative reporting.
    • Keep abreast of best practices and share insights with relevant personnel.
    • Demonstrate awareness and commitment to health, community and environmental protection and take action to ensure that unsafe practices or non-compliant behaviours do not occur.
    • Inform, involve and engage key internal and external stakeholders appropriately; develop and maintain positive relationships and represent TMAC positively in the community.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Relevant university degree.
    • Minimum 8 years experience in resource sector with at least 2 years in the mining sector with mine, maintenance and process plant experience.
    • The ideal candidate is a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or equivalent.
    • Proven experience influencing leaders and implementing successful initiatives.
    • Must be highly organized and have the ability to develop short and long-term plans to support company goals and objectives.
    • Intermediate level knowledge of SAP and Microsoft Office including Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Collaborative team player with proven relationship building skills.
    • Hands-on, self-sufficient and demonstrates a positive, can-do attitude.
    • Arctic and remote camp experience is an asset.
