    TMAC Resources is looking to hire a Mine Planner who will be responsible for the mine planning process for both production and development, mining consumables inventory, cost controls and production performance measurement. The Mine Planner provides driving layouts for the short and long-term mine plan and assists in the planning, scheduling, and drafting of different mine plan and infrastructure scenarios.


    This role will report to the Chief Mine Engineer. The position is located at the Hope Bay site in Nunavut, Canada and will require regular rotational travel to and from the site on a 3 week on, 3 week off basis.


    • Oversees the development and maintenance of long and short term mine plans.
    • Provides detailed driving layouts to the mining contractor to achieve the mine plan.
    • Provides detailed production longhole drilling and loading plans to the mining contractor.
    • Perform underground surveying using Total Station and CMS.
    • Manages files and prints relating to the mine plan.
    • Maintains all documents required by law pertaining to the mine plan.
    • Develops and tracks costs for mine budget.
    • Perform quality control ground support pull tests, review ground control concerns and ensure the Ground Control Management Plan is adhered to.
    • Analyzes and makes recommendations on ways to improve mine operating performance and works cooperatively with the mining contractor team to implement best practices.
    • Design and monitor mine infrastructure including ventilation, dewatering and backfill systems.
    • Demonstrate awareness and commitment to health, community and environmental protection and take action to ensure that unsafe practices or non-compliant behaviours do not occur.
    • Inform, involve and engage the key internal and external stakeholders appropriately; develop and maintain positive relationships and represent TMAC positively in the community.
    • Other such duties as may be assigned.


    • Degree or Diploma in Mining Engineering.
    • Minimum of 2 years mine planning experience.
    • Eligibility to register as a Professional Engineer in the Territory of Nunavut preferred.
    • Strong background in cost controls, cost tracking and mining methods.
    • Solid understanding of mine methods and safe mining practices.
    • Survey knowledge is an asset.
    • AutoCad and Mine Design software experience a necessity.
    • Deswik or MineCAD and Mine24D experience preferred.
    • Strong project management skills.
    • Ability to direct and work cooperatively with mining contractor teams.
    • Hands-on, self-sufficient and demonstrates a positive, can-do attitude.
    • Arctic experience is an asset.
    • Intermediate level knowledge of Microsoft Office.
