    TMAC Resources is looking to hire a Security Asset Officer to provide on-site security and surveillance services to support operational requirements.


    This role will report to the Health and Safety Manager. The position is located in Hope Bay, Nunavut, Canada and will require regular rotational travel to and from the site (2 weeks in/2 weeks out).


    • Develop and implement security procedures, processes and best practices applicable to a gold mining and milling asset. 
    • Coordination and execution of site wide surveillance and searches including monitoring incoming and outgoing cargo and luggage.
    • Maintain surveillance presence site wide, identify security exposures and risks; report and follow up on suspicious activity, recommend cost effective solutions
    • Respond to alarms and investigate disturbances.
    • Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against theft and maintain security of premises.
    • Observe and report daily activities and irregularities to appropriate personnel, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.
    • Coordinate onsite investigations and submit investigation reports in a timely manner.
    • Maintain daily, weekly and monthly operational reports. 
    • Demonstrate awareness and commitment to health, community and environmental protection and take action to ensure that unsafe practices or non-compliant behaviors do not occur.
    • Inform, involve and engage key internal and external stakeholders appropriately; develop and maintain positive relationships and represent TMAC positively in the community.
    • Other such duties as may be assigned.



    • Formal police/security training from an accredited institution/organization is an asset;
    • General training in: Investigations, Behavioural Based Security, Supervision;
    • Understanding of all applicable legal and regulatory requirements in Nunavut Territory and Ontario / Canada;
    • Knowledge of the mining operations and unique security challenges relevant to gold mining and milling an asset;
    • Physically fit and able to walk up to 17 km's per shift including several flights of stairs. Ability to lift and carry loads up to 15 kgs. in weight.
    • Able and willing to work in extreme weather conditions is required.
    • Excellent interpersonal and negotiating skills; conflict resolution skills a requirement.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Hands- on, self-sufficient and demonstrates a positive, can-do attitude.
    • Valid Security Guard License
    • First Aid & CPR Certificate
    • Valid Driver’s license.
    • Ability to provide a clear Criminal Records Check with extended security clearance. 
    • Ability to exercise vigilance and multi task is required. 
    • Ability to prioritize, remain calm under pressure in a dynamic environment.
    • Arctic experience is an asset.
