TMAC Resources is looking to hire a Fixed Plant Maintenance Planner to provide administrative support to the maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing, updating and monitoring detailed plans for executing maintenance activities.


This role will report to the Surface Operations Superintendent. The position is located at the Hope Bay Project site in Nunavut, Canada. This position will require regular rotational travel to and from the site (3 weeks in/ 3 weeks out rotation).


  • Develop, maintain, monitor and update the maintenance manual for the maintenance department, complete with business process flows, practices and policies and procedures.
  • Provide technical/operational input into maintenance procedures and systems to ensure operational readiness.
  • Compile, type, edit and distribute departmental correspondence, spreadsheet reports and presentations.
  • Create accurate plans for scheduling and manpower forecasting for weekly, monthly, annual, and long-term maintenance schedules.
  • Manage maintenance system including system data quality and seek out improvements for the system.
  • Monitor and measure maintenance costs and adjust planning accordingly.
  • Analyze trends in equipment maintenance needs including breakdown, preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, average time between failures and time to repair.
  • Compile, update and distribute backlog reports and other mandated control reports.
  • Review and prioritize maintenance work requests with other team members.
  • Communicates operations needs with maintenance supervisors and managers.
  • Demonstrate awareness and commitment to health, community and environmental protection and take action to ensure that unsafe practices or non-compliant behaviours do not occur.
  • Inform, involve, and engage key internal and external stakeholders appropriately; develop and maintain positive relationships and represent TMAC positively in the community.
  • Other such duties as may be assigned.


  • Must have mechanical or electrical post-secondary education.
  • Must be a registered trade/journeyman. Preferably mechanical.
  • Must have 10+ years of maintenance experience with at least 2 years in a planning role.
  • Specialization in maintenance planning would be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of SAP maintenance and inventory systems is essential.
  • Must have strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Must be able to assist the maintenance team as required.
  • Hands-on, self-sufficient and demonstrates a positive, can-do attitude.
  • Arctic experience is an asset.
  • Intermediate level knowledge of Microsoft Office.
