Overview

TMAC Resources is looking to hire a Health and Safety Trainer to provide health and safety training to all employees and contractors at the Hope Bay Project site.

 

This role will report to the Health and Safety Manager. The position is located at the Hope Bay Project site in Nunavut, Canada and will require regular rotational travel to and from the site (3 weeks in/ 3 weeks out).

Responsibilities

  • Identify, develop and schedule safety training requirements of all employees and contractors at the Hope Bay Project site.
  • Deliver instructional training of all safety policies, and procedures to meet company and regulatory compliances including site orientation, first aid, confined space entry, working at heights, WHMIS 2015 and delivery of skill competency assessments.
  • Additionally, deliver functional training as required to meet service operations needs (light vehicles, mobile equipment, loaders, dozers, excavators)
  • Maintain training records for all departments (mine, mill and surface operations).
  • Develop and maintain training matrixes for all departments. 
  • Strive for continuous improvement of safety course materials and evaluation processes.
  • Complete weekly and monthly reports.
  • Work with departmental managers to ensure safety training requirements are met
  • Demonstrate awareness and commitment to health, community and environmental protection and take action to ensure that unsafe practices or non-compliant behaviours do not occur.
  • Inform, involve and engage the key internal and external stakeholders appropriately; develop and maintain positive relationships and represent TMAC positively in the community.
  • Promote TMAC’s Zero Harm Policy 
  • Other such duties as may be assigned

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience working in a similar role in a mining, ore processing, oil and gas, chemicals or heavy industrial environment 
  • Underground mining training experience would be an asset 
  • Start up operations experience would be an asset 
  • Building and developing relevant training modules would be highly preferred
  • Certification in Train the Trainer required 
  • Competent to deliver surface light mobile vehicle training such as tele-handler, skid steer, elevated work platform and forklift. 
  • Intermediate working knowledge of all Microsoft Office software.
  • SAP basic knowledge
  • Hands-on, self-sufficient and demonstrates a positive, can-do attitude.
  • First aid instructor capability highly preferred 
  • Surface or Underground Emergency Response knowledge and training an asset. 
  • Canadian Registered Safety Professional designation considered an asset 
  • Arctic experience is an asset
