Overview

TMAC Resources is excited to begin recruitment for our Site Services Trainee Program. The purpose of the program is to provide meaningful work experience that will develop skills and knowledge for a career at the Hope Bay Project.

 

This role will report to the Site Services Supervisor. The position is located at the Hope Bay Project site in Nunavut, Canada and will require regular rotational travel to and from the site (2 weeks in/2 weeks out).

Responsibilities

  • Perform tasks on the labourer crew to support the surface operations.
  • Lifting, carrying and moving of materials, tools and other supplies of up to 50lbs.
  • Required to climb stairs, ladders, and walk distances throughout a 12 hour work period.
  • Help with tasks associated with daily flights including loading and unloading of luggage, materials and other supplies.
  • Operate small equipment and power tools in a safe and correct manner.
  • Participate in daily safety meetings.
  • Maintain proper housekeeping in assigned work area.
  • Be open and listen to feedback that will support your career development. 
  • Demonstrate initiative to ask for help or guidance to achieve your goals.
  • Ensure that the company has the capacity to achieve Zero Harm by actively identifying and reporting hazards using the site hazards reporting system. 
  • Demonstrates awareness and commitment to health, community and environmental protection and takes action to ensure that unsafe practices or non-compliant behaviours do not occur.
  • Informs, involves and engages key internal and external stakeholders appropriately; develops and maintains positive relationships and represents TMAC positively in the community.
  • Other such duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Grade 10 English and Math education.
  • Experience as a Labourer in an Industrial Environment is preferred, but not required.
  • Hands on, self-sufficient and demonstrates a positive, can-do attitude.
  • It is a bonafide work requirement of the job to lift up to 50lbs on a regular basis.
  • It is a bonafide work requirement of the job to be able to climb stairs and ladders.
  • Arctic experience is an asset.
  • Must be prepared to work in a remote camp environment.
  • Must be a Nunavut Inuit.
