Overview

TMAC Resources is looking to hire an Intermediate Mine Engineer who will be directly responsible for the monthly, 3 Month, and 12 Month rolling mine plans, as well as specialized engineering work. Key to the role and mid-range mine planning process are resource optimization, production productivity and KPI measurement, efficient capital development scheduling, ventilation and geotechnical support plans. The Intermediate Mine Engineer prepares and provides engineering production, construction and driving layouts and scheduling and drafting of different mining and infrastructure scenarios, and ensures Short-range plans are consistent with mid-range and budget target objectives.

This role will report to the Chief Mine Engineer. The position is located at the Hope Bay Project site in Nunavut, Canada. This position will require regular rotational travel to and from the site (3 weeks in / 3 weeks out rotation).

Responsibilities

  • Designs, presents and maintains Mid-range mine plans; monthly and annual production plans, projects sequence of monthly plans out 12 to 18 Months
  • Oversee long-hole design and planning with an emphasis on sequence optimization and mining quality improvement, Direct activities of mine planner, mine technician and mine surveyor
  • Promote operating / capital cost reductions, analyzes and makes recommendations on ways to improve mine operating performance and works cooperatively with the mining contractor and entire team to implement best practices and continuous improvement
  • Assist with mineral resource evaluation and reserve calculations.
  • Ensures measures and tracking of Monthly production metrics and costs for mine budgets, ensures accuracy and timely delivery of Month-end reports
  • Provides support for development driving layouts to the mine, to achieve the plan and budget rates, projects out the development plans 12-18 months
  • Provides Underground support to the mine department, shift-bosses as needed, and strives to achieve continuous improvement to the mine designs
  • Manages files and prints relating to the mine plans, maintains all documents required by law pertaining to the mine plans
  • Design and monitor mine infrastructure including ventilation, dewatering and backfill systems and measures
  • Directs quality control for ground support, review concerns and devise ground control plans and ensure the Ground Control Management Plan is adhered to
  • Demonstrates awareness and commitment to health, community and environmental protection and takes action to ensure that unsafe practices or non-compliant behaviors do not occur
  • Informs, involves and engages key internal and external stakeholders appropriately; develops and maintains positive relationships and represents TMAC positively in the community
  • Other related duties as may be assigned

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 4-8 years underground mining / engineering / planning experience
  • CAD based Mine Design software experience is a necessity; Deswik, MineCAD, Ventsim, Leapfrog, production databases and/or EPS experience preferred
  • Degree in Mine Engineering or related field
  • Mine Rescue experience, Supervisory tickets / experience are an asset
  • Strong understanding of cost control, cost tracking and KPI metrics, utilizations
  • Solid background in mining methods and safe mining practices, Long hole mining experience particularly narrow vein is an asset
  • Survey / CMS knowledge and ability is an asset
  • Strong project and time management skills
  • Ability to lead, direct and work cooperatively with mining and contractor teams 
  • Excellent interpersonal and written and oral communication skills
  • Hands-on, self-sufficient and demonstrates a positive, can-do attitude
  • Arctic experience is an asset
  • Advanced / intermediate level knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel
  • Eligibility to register as Professional Engineer in the Territory of Nunavut preferred
