TMAC Resources is looking to hire a Mine Planner who is directly responsible for the daily and weekly mine planning process, production performance measurement, cost controls and consumables inventory. The Mine Planner prepares and provides engineering production and driving layouts for the short and long-term mine plan and assists in the scheduling and drafting of different mine plan and infrastructure scenarios.

This role will report to the Chief Mine Engineer. The position is located at the Hope Bay Project site in Nunavut, Canada. This position will require regular rotational travel to and from the site (3 weeks in / 3 weeks out rotation).


  • Designs, presents and maintains Long Hole blast plans / designs and short term (weekly) production plans, projects sequence of weekly plans out to 3 to 6 weeks
  • Provides detailed development driving layouts to the mine, to achieve the plan and budget rates, projects out the weekly plans out to 4 to 6 weeks
  • Provides Underground support on a daily and weekly basis to the drillers, blasters, shift-bosses as needed, and strives to achieve continuous improvement to the mine designs
  • Manages files and prints relating to the mine plan, maintains all documents required by law pertaining to the mine plan
  • Tracks daily, weekly & Monthly production metrics and costs for mine budgets
  • Design and monitor mine infrastructure including ventilation, dewatering and backfill systems and measures
  • Perform quality control ground support pull tests, review ground control concerns and ensure the Ground Control Management Plan is adhered to on plans
  • Analyzes and makes recommendations on ways to improve mine operating performance and works cooperatively with the mining contractor and entire team to implement best practices and continuous improvement
  • Demonstrates awareness and commitment to health, community and environmental protection and takes action to ensure that unsafe practices or non-compliant behaviours do not occur
  • Informs, involves and engages key internal and external stakeholders appropriately; develops and maintains positive relationships and represents TMAC positively in the community
  • Perform underground surveying using Total Station and CMS
  • Other such duties as may be assigned


  • Minimum of 2 years underground mine engineering / planning experience.
  • CAD based Mine Design software experience is a necessity.
  • Degree or Diploma in Mine Engineering or Technology.
  • Strong understanding of cost control, cost tracking and mining methods. Long hole mining experience is an asset.
  • Solid background in mining methods and safe mining practices.
  • Survey knowledge and ability is an asset.
  • Deswik, EPS and/or MineCAD experience preferred.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Ability to direct and work cooperatively with mining contractor teams.
  • Hands-on, self-sufficient and demonstrates a positive, can-do attitude.
  • Arctic experience is an asset.
  • Advanced / intermediate level knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Eligibility to register as an E.I.T. / Professional Engineer in the Territory of Nunavut preferred, or CCTT – Canada Council of Technicians and Technologists.
