TMAC Resources is looking to hire a Light Duty Mechanic responsible for repairs, troubleshooting, adjusting, repair overhauls and maintaining TMAC’S light and medium duty fleet of pickups and a variety of support equipment. All work must be performed in accordance with health & safety, industry, production and legislative requirements.

This role will report to the Maintenance Supervisor. The position is located at the Hope Bay Project site in Nunavut, Canada and will require regular rotational travel to and from the site (3 weeks in / 3 weeks out).


  • Clean, lubricate and perform routine maintenance work on Pickup fleet, medium duty mobile machinery and related support equipment.
  • Check for proper performance and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions
  • Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required.
  • Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components or systems, using hand and power tools
  • Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers' specifications
  • May perform repair work on medium duty trucks
  • Respond to emergencies or breakdowns to troubleshoot and complete any repairs or installations needed.
  • Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect and investigate any irregularities and/or malfunctions.
  • Operate hoisting and lifting equipment to position machinery and parts during the installation and repair process.
  • Operate different hand tools, power tools and welding equipment.
  • Work with onsite and / or outside contractors and service providers as required.
  • Complete all paperwork required.
  • Report any real or potential safety/health hazards to the Supervisor.
  • Actively participate in orientation and training programs.
  • Conduct daily inspections of the work area.
  • Report all accidents, incidents or near misses to the Supervisor.
  • Observe all legislated H&S regulations (including OHSA & WSIB) as well as established workplace safety procedures.
  • Demonstrate awareness and commitment to health, community and environmental protection and take action to ensure that unsafe practices or non-compliant behaviours do not occur.
  • Inform, involve and engage key internal and external stakeholders appropriately; develop and maintain positive relationships and represent TMAC positively in the community
  • Other such duties as may be assigned.


  • Journeyperson Automotive Mechanic
  • Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, assembly, operating and maintenance instructions, blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and procedural manuals. 
  • Computerized Engine, Fuel, and drivetrain management systems experience is a definite asset.
  • Outstanding communication (oral/written) skills required.
  • Strong team building skills.
  • Strong mathematical and mechanical skills required.
  • Willing to work overtime as required.
  • Hands-on, self-sufficient and demonstrates a positive, can-do attitude.
  • Arctic experience is an asset.
  • Intermediate level knowledge of Microsoft Office.
