Overview

TMAC Resources is looking to hire a Mill Operator to operate the processing plant to ensure the highest standards are achieved in terms of safety, environment, personnel, efficiency, availability and product quality.

 

This is an important role with responsibility for the safe and efficient running of the process plant including troubleshooting operational problems. This position reports to the Process Operations Supervisor located at the Hope Bay Project site in Nunavut, Canada. This position will require regular rotational travel to and from the site (3 weeks in/ 3 weeks out rotation).

Responsibilities

  • Complete regular and assigned plant operation duties in designated areas within the process.
  • Ensure that the company has the capacity to achieve Zero Harm by actively identifying and reporting hazards using the sites hazard reporting system.
  • Practical operation of all processing plant equipment.
  • Identify, diagnose and report items of the plant that require preventative maintenance or repair.
  • Operational maintenance and repair of process related equipment.
  • Comply with and make improvements on plant operating procedures.
  • Ensure production activities achieve maximum effective use of the plant and equipment.
  • Complete operational check rounds in designated areas of the plant and report findings to supervisor.
  • Identifying and act on ways to improve output or efficiency of the plant.
  • Troubleshoot operational problems.
  • All aspects of housekeeping including cleaning company vehicles and living quarters.
  • Operate mobile equipment and power tools in a safe and correct manner.
  • Enter and work within confined spaces and work safely at heights.
  • Liaise with other processing personnel to achieve production goals.
  • Accurately complete log book entries, daily reports and submit safety issues before the end of each shift.
  • Clearly communicate all production and safety related issues to team members and cross shift.
  • Work in a safe manner at all times.
  • Assist in the development of competencies of other employees where directed.
  • Demonstrate awareness and commitment to health, community, environmental protection and take action to ensure that unsafe practices or non-compliant behaviours do not occur.
  • Inform, involve and engage internal and external stakeholders appropriately; develop and maintain positive relationships and represent TMAC positively in the community.
  • Other such duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum high school diploma or GED.
  • Must have 3 years of operating experience in mineral processing.
  • Must have 1 year of gold mineral processing experience.
  • Experience with Mine Rescue and/or Surface Fire-Fighting would be considered an asset.
  • Accurate documentation skills are a must.
  • Well organized and able to process large amounts of complex information.
  • Effective operational troubleshooting skills.
  • Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Hands-on, self-sufficient and demonstrates a positive, can-do attitude.
  • Arctic experience is an asset.
