TMAC Resources is looking to hire 2 Metallurgical Technician Trainees who will assist and provide metallurgical support in order to improve and optimize gold production and recovery while ensuring the highest standards for safety, environmental, and processing efficiency are held.


This role will report to the Chief Metallurgist and Assay. The position is located at the Hope Bay Project site in Nunavut, Canada and will require regular rotational travel to and from the site (3 weeks in / 3 weeks out).


  • Assist with metallurgical lab activities, data collection and test work programs to achieve optimization of ore processing.
  • Document, observe, analyse and formally present metallurgical testing results.
  • Operate mobile equipment, power tools and metallurgical sampling equipment in a safe and correct manner.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and operational issues for metallurgical equipment assigned in the field and laboratory.
  • Liaise with other metallurgical personnel to achieve goals.
  • Demonstrate awareness and commitment to health, community and environmental protection and take action to ensure that unsafe practices or non-compliant behaviours do not occur.
  • Inform, involve and engage key internal and external stakeholders appropriately; develop and maintain positive relationships and represent TMAC positively in the community.
  • Other such duties as may be assigned.


  • Post-secondary education in Metallurgy, Chemistry or Minerals Processing, or equivalent industrial laboratory certification/experience.
  • Previous experience in a mineral processing environment preferred. 
  • Written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Experience with Mine Rescue and/or Surface Fire-Fighting would be considered an asset.
  • Hands-on, self-sufficient and demonstrates a positive, can-do attitude.
  • Arctic experience is an asset.
  • Intermediate level knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • SAP skill is an asset.
