Overview

TMAC Resources is looking to hire 2 Junior Metallurgists / EITs to provide metallurgical support to assist with improving and optimizing gold production and recovery while ensuring the highest standards for safety, environmental and processing efficiency are held.

 

This role will report to the Chief Metallurgist and Assay. The position is located at the Hope Bay Project site in Nunavut, Canada and will require regular rotational travel to and from the site (3 weeks in / 3 weeks out).

Responsibilities

  • Liaise with multiple departments including but not limited to: Mill Operations, Maintenance, Technical Services, Environment and Geology to achieve production goals. 
  • Maintain and optimise metallurgical models for individual processes.
  • Update and maintain accurate metallurgical balances and daily production reporting.
  • Assist with metallurgical accounting practices for monthly and annual metallurgical reporting. 
  • Monitor and evaluates metallurgical performances of the mill to develop and execute test programs for improving throughout, and costs. 
  • Develop reliable methods to increase gold grades/recoveries fully utilizing both internal and external expertise as required.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, operational and metallurgical issues in the field affecting gold production.
  • Demonstrate awareness and commitment to health, community and environmental protection and take action to ensure that unsafe practices or non-compliant behaviours do not occur.
  • Inform, involve and engage key internal and external stakeholders appropriately; develop and maintain positive relationships and represent TMAC positively in the community.
  • Other such duties as may be assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in metallurgical or chemical engineering.
  • Must be eligible for registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientist. 
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a mineral processing environment. Co-op or seasonal experience will be considered. Practical experience in a gold processing plant is preferred. 
  • Experience with Mine Rescue and/or Surface Fire-Fighting would be considered an asset. 
  • Hands-on, self-sufficient and demonstrates a positive, can-do attitude.
  • Arctic experience is an asset.
  • Intermediate level knowledge of Microsoft Office.
