Overview

TMAC Resources is looking to hire 2 Project Geologists, Exploration who will be responsible for adding to the geoscientific understanding of the Hope Bay ore deposits, generating regional exploration targets, and participating in the planning and execution of exploration programs to effectively add materially to the existing resource base and leading to the discovery of new economic mineral deposits.

 

This role will report to the Manager, Regional Exploration and Geoscience. This role will require regular rotational travel to and from the Hope Bay Project site in Nunavut, Canada (3 weeks in/ 3 weeks out), and will be required to work in the Toronto corporate office from time-to-time throughout the year. Approximately 75% of the year will be based at the mine site, while the remainder will be based in the Toronto corporate office, therefore the candidate must be able to commute to the Toronto corporate office.

Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with the Senior Project Geologist, collects, compiles, evaluates, and interprets all project geological, geophysical and geochemical data.
  • Performing geological practices including core logging, reverse-circulation chip logging, sampling, mapping, prospecting, drill hole planning, and 3D modelling/interpretation.
  • Compile and interpret spatial GIS datasets.
  • Ensuring that work is completed in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Prepare geological maps, geological sections, presentation images, and reports relating to drill programs and field work.
  • Engaging with various contractors, consultants, and other stakeholders.
  • Contributes to and supports the Senior Project Geologist with reporting.
  • Promotes and maintains a cooperative, productive team spirit and culture.
  • Ensures that exploration programs are undertaken in a safe, cost effective, and organized manner.
  • Is up-to-date with relevant new geological concepts and the use of advanced technology to optimize the effectiveness of exploration programs.
  • Prepares concise, factual reports of high technical quality in a timely basis.
  • May be asked to assist with editing technical reports.
  • Demonstrate awareness and commitment to health, community and environmental protection and take action to ensure that unsafe practices or non-compliant behaviours do not occur.
  • Inform, involve and engage the key internal and external stakeholders appropriately; develop and maintain positive relationships and represent TMAC positively in the community.
  • Other such duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of previous experience in a similar role.
  • B.Sc. degree in Geology.
  • Team oriented and results focused.
  • High degree of motivation and initiative, the ability to direct and coordinate a team and proficient mathematical skills.
  • Ability to balance and prioritize multiple activities.
  • Intermediate to high level of knowledge of Microsoft Office and geology-specific software programs such as Leapfrog, ArcGIS, and Target.
  • Hands-on, self-sufficient and demonstrates a positive, can-do attitude.
  • Arctic experience is an asset.
