Overview

TMAC Resources is looking to hire 4 Mechanical Engineering Co-Op Students for a 4-month work term. The Mechanical Engineering Co-Op students will gain experience working in a fast paced, challenging, and professional work environment. Students will have the opportunity to develop the preventative maintenance framework for our state of the art Processing Plant. TMAC’s processing plant is brand new with cutting edge technology. The selected incumbent will work under the direction and mentorship of an experienced maintenance and mechanical team. This role will report to the Site Operations Superintendent. The position is located at the Hope Bay Project site in Nunavut, Canada and will require regular rotational travel to and from the site (2 weeks in/ 2 weeks out).

 

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for developing the computer maintenance system for the fixed plant. 
  • Develop and update equipment preventative maintenance procedures.
  • Develop and maintain equipment bill of materials.
  • Establish equipment groups and setup individual and group task lists within SAP. 
  • Maintain tools for tracking process data for analysis and metrics reporting.
  • Build SAP maintenance plans and initiate a schedule for each piece of equipment.
  • Review daily production data for accuracy and evaluate production data using spreadsheets to perform quantitative/qualitative analysis. 
  • Assist with the development and documentation of standard operating procedures and fixed plant planning processes. 
  • Identify deficiencies in maintenance processes and develop sustainable improvements.
  • Communicate with various levels of personnel throughout the organization, including management plant operators, engineers, metallurgists, and contractors. 
  • Work in a safe manner at all times.
  • Demonstrate awareness and commitment to health, community, environmental protection and take action to ensure that unsafe practices or non-compliant behaviours do not occur.
  • Inform, involve and engage internal and external stakeholders appropriately; develop and maintain positive relationships and represent TMAC positively in the community.
  • Other such duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in 3rd or 4th year mechanical engineering program at an accredited university. 
  • Must be able focus and multi-task in a changing environment. 
  • Must convey a strong work ethic and have great attention to detail. 
  • Knowledge of Industrial or mineral processing exposure is an asset.
  • Experience with SAP is an asset.
  • Well organized and able to process large amounts of complex information.
  • Hands-on, self-sufficient and demonstrates a positive, can-do attitude.
  • Arctic experience is an asset.
