TMAC Resources Inc.acquired ownership of the Hope Bay Belt Project, a gold project in Nunavut, Canada in March 2013.

We are looking for 2 Emergency Response Coordinator to join our team on a permanent basis. Our Emergency Response Coordinators will be responsible for the emergency response and preparedness for the surface and underground operations. They will lead, coach and train the Emergency Response Team members to ensure competency is established and maintained.


This role will report to the Health and Safety Manager. The position is located at the Hope Bay Project site in Nunavut, Canada and will require regular rotational travel to and from the site (2 weeks in / 2 weeks out).

Responsibilities

  • Provide input on development, implementation, and maintenance of Emergency Response Plans, policies, procedures, and processes which protect TMAC’s workforce, assets, and reputation.
  • Liaise with service providers and outside agencies including law enforcement and local Inuit communities relative to emergency response and preparedness capabilities.
  • Develop and implement plans and operational procedures and protocols to execute emergency management functions within the Hope Bay Project sites.
  • Develop, coordinate and maintain an ongoing training program to ensure the Emergency Response Teams are appropriately trained.
  • Review incident action plans and provide input on emergency management goals and objectives.
  • Develop and implement emergency management systems and ensure they meet legislated requirements and company policies.
  • Assist to coordinate the logistics of disaster response or crisis management activities including evacuations plans.
  • Inspect facilities and equipment used in emergency management operations to ensure that they are working properly.
  • Able to train and prepare emergency management staff for responder roles.
  • Coordinate surface and underground emergency management scenarios and exercise drills. 
  • Demonstrate awareness and commitment to health, community and environmental protection and take action to ensure that unsafe practices or non-compliant behaviours do not occur.
  • Inform, involve and engage key internal and external stakeholders appropriately; develop and maintain positive relationships and represent TMAC positively in the community.
  • Other such duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in mining, processing or emergency response
  • 10 years combined experience in surface and underground emergency response program coordination and health and safety program management 
  • Certification to train in the following; surface firefighting, underground mine rescue, high angle rescue, working at heights, confined space entry, first aid and cpr, light duty mobile vehicles and equipment 
  • Hands-on, self-sufficient and demonstrates a positive, can-do attitude.
  • Arctic experience is an asset.
  • Intermediate level knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Hazmat training certification is an asset
  • Supervisory experience in mining, milling or other related activity is an asset
