Overview

TMAC Resources Inc.acquired ownership of the Hope Bay Belt Project, a gold project in Nunavut, Canada in March 2013.

We are looking for 2 Buyers to join our team at the Hope Bay site in Nunavut. As a Buyer you will be responsible for purchasing materials, parts, supplies, equipment following established purchasing policies and procedures. This position works effectively with the Logistics Coordinator and Warehouse to ensure timely transportation, receiving and shipping of all goods.


This position will require you to work on a 2 week-in, 2 week-out work rotation. 

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the procurement and expediting activities of all assigned and required materials, parts, supplies and equipment for the site. 
  • Manages system requests in a timely and accurate fashion.
  • Analyzes purchases to optimize item, price, and delivery terms to meet the operational needs of the site.
  • Responsible for accuracy of transactions in SAP, as well as, maintaining up-to-date filing of all supporting documentations such as quotations, packing slips and order confirmations.
  • Proactively maintains close contact with Management and Maintenance for present and future procurement requirements.
  • May be required to assist with suppliers to provide best solution for meeting materials and service needs, considering suitable quality, acceptable delivery and overall price. 
  • Identify, attain and record cost savings through effective negotiations and other efficiencies.
  • Assist in the development and enhancement of business unit maintenance and operation purchasing strategies. 
  • Demonstrate awareness and commitment to health, community and environmental protection and take action to ensure that unsafe practices or non-compliant behaviours do not occur.
  • Inform, involve and engage key internal and external stakeholders appropriately; develop and maintain positive relationships and represent TMAC positively in the community.
  • Other such duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications

  • Possess a diploma, certificate or designation from a recognized purchase program.
  • 5 years of progressive purchasing experience, at mine site is preferred.
  • Knowledge of SAP or equivalent computerized purchasing programs.
  • Intermediate level in Microsoft Office and Excel.
  • Must possess and demonstrate high ethical and professional standards.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Accounting Background/Experience.
  • Efficient problem solving.
