TMAC Resources Inc.acquired ownership of the Hope Bay Belt Project, a gold project in Nunavut, Canada in March 2013.

We are looking for an Operations Controller to provide support to the Hope Bay Project site. This role will support the operation and project teams by preparing, developing and maintaining the required procedures, processes, analysis and budgets to ensure effective communication and cost control at both the site and Corporate levels.

 

This role will report to the Vice President of Finance. The position is located at the Corporate Office in Toronto.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the operations and projects annual budgeting and monthly forecasting process to efficiently prepare quality financial analysis and projections to guide business decisions.
  • Manage life-of-mine model update process.
  • Ensure accurate, reliable financial models are maintained. 
  • Develop and prepare monthly/quarterly corporate and site KPI performance reporting and analysis.
  • Provide support to the operations and project teams on key operations issues, strategic analysis, and capital allocation decisions.
  • Responsible for coordinating the planning and determination of the annual sealift purchase quantities with operations teams.
  • Provide assistance with planning for new projects and implement appropriate reporting and cost tracking structures and processes.
  • Manage the corporate Authorization for Expenditure (AFE) process. 
  • Responsible for identifying and rectifying financial issues at the operations on a timely basis through the development and implementation of appropriate tools, processes and practices.
  • Responsible for working with the warehouse team to ensure sufficient inventory controls and tracking.
  • Coordinate cost accounting activities, establishing, maintaining, monitoring and reporting cost standards for the site. 
  • Assist with the preparation of reports to the Board of Directors.
  • Responsible for the calculation and accumulation of operational data used in public disclosure and communications. 
  • Work closely with the Financial Controller to maintain, develop and implement operational and related financial control and accounting policies and procedures.
  • Inform, involve and engage key internal and external stakeholders as appropriate; develop and maintain positive relationships and represent TMAC positively in the community. 
  • Demonstrate awareness and commitment to health, community and environmental protection and take action to ensure that unsafe practices or non-compliant behaviours do not occur. 
  • Other such duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications

  • 10 years’ relevant experience
  • Mid-to-large sized global, publicly traded company experience, preferably in mining 
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in accounting or finance
  • Excellent knowledge of internal controls 
  • Experience with SAP
  • Excellent leadership, presentation, problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet set deadlines.
  • Action oriented and a highly organized problem solver
  • Advanced level knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Collaborative, professional team player with good interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Efficient and able to manage competing priorities 
  • Hands-on, self-sufficient and demonstrates a positive, can-do attitude
